BIO

Francesca Sganzerla is a visual artist with an international background, based in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition to her solo exhibitions in Switzerland, she has participated in group shows and competitions in the USA, Mexico, Italy, Portugal, and Austria, and her work forms part of international corporate and private collections.

One of her most significant projects is the installation Bunker/Chapel at the Venice Arsenale, Spazio Thetis, produced in collaboration with Michela Rizzo Gallery and presented in the context of the 52nd International Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.

Besides her exhibitions, Francesca has regularly donated works to the “La Tua Opera per un Bambino” charity auction in support of the Benedetta D’Intino Foundation. Founded by Cristina Mondadori, the foundation provides free assistance to children with communication disabilities and psychological distress.

For the past two years, her paintings have been exhibited as part of the Zurich Film Festival program in the Folium lounge. Francesca Sganzerla is currently represented by Galerie Calabro in Zurich.

ART STATEMENT

My work seeks a language of color and texture that carries both calm and urgency. I intend each canvas to be a space to inhabit - quiet at first, then revealing traces and layers that invite the viewer to slow down, shift perspective, and discover the histories held in the paint.
